"There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home." ~Roderick Haig-Brown, Fisherman's Spring, 1951 Saltwater Opportunities The north end of the Queen Charlotte Islands is arguably the finest saltwater salmon fishing destination in the world. With its shallow bait-filled waters situated right smack in the middle of the largest salmon migration route there is, it is no wonder that this is considered the ultimate Shangri-La for the salmon angler. The Masset House saltwater fishing fleet consists of four Grady White fishing vessels piloted by some of the finest guides on the coast. Every amenity for the fisherman is provided to ensure a great day on the water. The world famous runs of Tyees (Chinook weighing thirty pounds or more) Coho, Chum, Pink and Sockeye Salmon migrate through the fertile waters of the northern Queen Charlottes from May through September. Masset House is situated only minutes from the main migration route of these feeding salmon, giving anglers great opportunities to catch these most powerful fish of the North Pacific. Also abundant in our waters is the Pacific Halibut. These “barn doors” of the deep range from 10 to 300 plus pounds in the area and can be found all year 'round. 2008/09
