Saltwater Fishing

The Queen Charlotte Islands north coast is arguably the finest saltwater salmon fishing destination in the world.  Its shallow bait-filled waters are situated right smack in the middle of the largest salmon migration route there is.

The Masset House saltwater fishing fleet consists of four Grady White fishing vessels piloted by our skilled fishing guides.  Every amenity for the fisherman is provided to ensure a great day on the water.  World famous runs of Tyees (Chinook weighing thirty pounds or more) Coho, Chum, Pink and Sockeye salmon migrate through the fertile waters of the northern Queen Charlottes from May through September.

Only minutes from these salmon grounds, Masset House anglers enjoy maximum opportunity to catch these most powerful fish of the North Pacific.  Also abundant in our waters is the Pacific Halibut. These “barn doors” of the deep range from 10 to 200 plus pounds in the area and can be found all year 'round.

Catch & Release fishing has become the norm in many of the world's sport fisheries.  At Masset House we encourage anglers to take only what they need and carefully release all others.  We have developed a Catch & Release program designed to recognize and reward those anglers who choose to release fish - particularly the big Tyees - Chinook salmon over 40 pounds.
